Regulations for Thesis/Dissertation Replacement
(Effective June 1, 2026)
To maintain the quality of our university's academic theses/dissertations and ensure the consistency of academic data, any modifications or replacements requested after a graduate's thesis has been reviewed and approved by the Library must comply with the following regulations:
◢ Electronic Thesis Replacement Process ◣
The graduate must fill out the "Thesis/Dissertation Replacement Application Form" and bring both the form and the updated electronic file to the Library's Reference Desk for processing.
※ If the printed thesis has already been submitted to the Library, any replacement must be applied to both the electronic and printed versions simultaneously, following the Printed Thesis Replacement Process.
◢ Printed Thesis Replacement Process ◣ (Including theses already submitted to the National Central Library)
Application Procedure
An approval memo must be initiated by the respective department (or graduate program). Upon obtaining approval from the thesis advisor and the department chair, the approval memo will be sent to the Graduate Academic Affairs Division of the Office of Academic Affairs for review. Following the final approval by the College Dean, it will be forwarded to the Library, and the replacement process will be carried out according to the following workflow.
- Approval Memo Attachment: Updated electronic file of the thesis.
- Required Details in the Approval Memo:
Reason for modification, graduation academic year and semester, and whether a replacement of the printed thesis at the National Central Library (NCL) is required.
Physical Replacement (After the memo is approved)
- NTUST Library
- Electronic File: The Library will update the NTUST Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) System using the electronic file attached to the approval memo.
- Printed Thesis: The graduate must bring one copy of the updated printed thesis to the Library's Acquisition and Cataloguing Division to perform the replacement.
- National Central Library (NCL)
If the printed thesis has already been submitted to the National Central Library, the graduate must bring the "Application for Replacement of Existing Thesis/Dissertation" and one copy of the updated printed thesis to the Graduate Academic Affairs Division to handle the replacement of the thesis stored at the NCL.
Please proofread your thesis carefully before submitting it for review or binding. Any corrections must be made early on (before the printed copy is submitted to the library) to avoid a tedious replacement process afterward.
