Reference Room Management Directions

1.Reference room of the Library of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as the Library) established the management directions (hereinafter referred to as the Direction) to assist readers to get access to references and related resources.

2.Services provided by the Reference room includes:

(1)Reference desk: offering inquiry services.

(2)Information access area: computer-based searching for library collection,  electronic journals and databases.

(3)Non-professional magazine area: closed reserve and reading of Chinese and English non-professional magazines.

(4)Network printer: offering printing inquiry data by yourself.

3.Readers are not allowed to occupy seats. Food and mobiles are prohibited.

4.Readers should present valid ID for any inquiry at the Reference counter.

5.The Reference desk is responsible for: collection of digital theses and dissertations, inter-library library cards, institutional repositories, and the attention to excellent student award for reading projects etc. Other related attention rules are concluded individually.

6.Computers equipped at the searching area are restricted to the access of library catalogue, electronic database and online academic resources. It should not be used to link to pornographic websites, BBS, online games, Microsoft word or online chat rooms for examples.

7.Readers may only use one computer at a time, a maximum time limit of 2 hours, instead of occupying several at the searching area. And readers should not refuse others to take the seat near by.

8.The searching area can be used as a lecture area to promote database employment after approved by the Library.

9.Journals displayed at the non-professional magazine area are closed reserve. Readers neither have the right to damage nor borrow, and have to put the materials back after reading.

10.Please observe Copyright Laws, M.O.E.’s Campus Network Use Policy, and NTUST Academic Network Usage Regulations.

11.Readers fail to comply with the regulations will be asked to leave the Library immediately. School polices will be informed and handled by regulations in case of serious violation.

12.Deficiencies of this direction should be compensated and administered in accordance with relevant regulations.

13.This direction is passed by the Library Committee and shall be promulgated after it is sanctioned by the president. The same will apply in the case of amendments and revisions
